2013 Kick-Off

Primary school children came in as we were getting set up. Phoebe prayed with them all and led them in an impromptu meeting with singing and a message. This primary meeting will now be a feature and I am sure will grow and grow, can't wait till next week......................!!

They were fascinated by the guitar!

We has made announcements in the classroom and the room filled up rapidly.....

.....until we were absolutely full to the brim

Our man Jeffrey........ a former student now doing an internship at a local church will join us for all out activities this year, meetings, outreach and excursions. Suicidal two years ago, he has developed into an amazing leader. Without any help he has organized about 50 kids in two groups each doing singing poetry drama and dance....
Go for it Jeoffrey!...sharing a message of "Don't give up!"

Afterwards we share a message about peace in the family; so many of them come from broken homes, no homes, no parents, no electricity...we encouraged them to become a part of God's family, the only one with a perfect parent!.

Phoebe shares Philippians 4:6 Have Zero worries, pray for everything, and the peace of God will guard your heart and mind!

Praying for the kids at the end of the meeting, anointing them oil to symbolize the Spirit and  praying for a fullness of the Spirit in their lives and their homes

Snacks and drinks for all at the end..happy days!

Singing at the primary school

Angel's Voices, ( Diepsloot Combined School Student Christian Meeting singing group) were invited to perform and minister at a primary school Christmas party.
This was a challenge as the day was very wet and it seemed  as though the whole thing might be called off.

However all 21 learners showed up and they did so very well!

We were so blessed when Suzanne , a friend form BBC, emailed us to invite the learners to a wonderful dance and ballet performance at the theatre in Pretoria.

We ended up taking 21 of them  and they all had a terrific time as you can see below!

Here we all are before the show began.

Foot - washing

During our last Student Meeting we faced up to he fact that the end of the year was coming. This meant that
Jeoffrey, who has developed into a tremendous leader, would be graduating  from the school .

Phumzile and Jeoffrey with Terry.

We decided to have a theme of leadership for our meeting and we went through some leadership principles. We then showed a movie of the last supper, where Jesus washed the feet of the disciples showing them that he that would be greatest amomg them must be a servant or slave to all.

We then washed the feet of four learners, who have been invited on a Youth Camp with Bryanston Bible Church. They were quite shocked that we would do that! But they soon caught on and we had a wonderful afternoon as you can see below!

We wash the feet of learners who are leaving for church camp
They in turn wash the feet of other learners
And they in turn washed others' feet including our faithful volunteer Mitt
And on and on it went
J
Jeoffrey came in late and immediately one of the youngest learners sat him down and washed his feet. Sweet!
Then it was time to celebrate three birthdays Jeoffrey, Michelle and Vuso.
